Finally Feeling Like I’m Home

Moving is quite the shock for most people, especially when it is done internationally. As study abroad students, we have effectively moved from our home countries (in my case, the United States) to the city of Klaipėda, Lithuania. At first, this was pretty scary to think about, but over time I have gradually started becoming more comfortable with my new culture and environment. I had a friend visit me last weekend (she is studying abroad in Berlin) and was amazed at how comfortable I was with the city. I felt completely comfortable speaking to the locals in Lithuanian, talking about cultural norms, and describing the history. It amazes me how quickly I have embraced Lithuania as my home.
